RENOVATION AND EXTENSION OF AN EXISTING BUILDING. INVITED COMPETITION, 2016

Binom presented a proposal called: Participaisaje, which is created by the combination of two Spanish words: participation and landscape.

One of the main drivers of the scheme is using design to encourage the children's  contribution to the maintenance as well as running key spatial elements that will determine the new interior/exterior setting of the building, such as the green orchard-facade or the playing landscape on the roof terrace.

The second key idea relates to creating an enclosure that incorporates the environment around the building into the actual building space, extending the net area across two new indoor/outdoor spaces. The new proposed shading skin integrates the existing building with the new extension in a coherent proposal that adds urban value to its surroundings by opening up the activities at ground level to the square where it is located.

The refurbishment of the premises included a 2floors roof extension, integrating a new lift and internal fit-out of all the spaces.
